Perfectly proportioned for multigenerational stays for family and friends, there is also a large Events Barn for parties, gatherings or weddings.
With parts of the farm dating back to the 13th Century, Rumleigh Farm has been a fixture on the Bere Peninsular for hundreds of years. Thick granite walls and cosy fireplaces cocoon you in the Winter and in the Summer the 17 acres of rolling farmland down to the river are a delight to explore.
With no passing traffic or light pollution this is a place where nature comes first. We have worked hard to retain that ethos, while creating a comfortable luxurious place to stay.
The farm offers great flexibility for multigenerational family stays – The Farmhouse sleeps 8 comfortably in four double bedrooms, two en-suite and two serviced by a large family bathroom. There’s a well appointed kitchen complete with Aga and a large dining room that seats 14. In the spacious and comfortable living room, that was the original a Medieval Long Barn, there is an enormous fireplace with stonework allegedly from Tavistock Abbey that was destroyed during Henry VIII’s Dissolution of the Monasteries. This is the ideal place to congregate and spend time with family and friends.
Attached to the farmhouse is a converted 17th Century barn, The Long Barn, which sleeps 8; a family room (King and ‘Rock n Roll’ two singles) that sleeps four with an ensuite shower room, a large comfortable King with ensuite and a further King room with a large family bathroom just down the hall. It has its own modern kitchen with a gas range oven and a very large open plan sitting-dining room.
The adjoining building between the Farmhouse and Long Barn contains a ground floor annex, all on single level with easy access outside. There is an enormous walk in shower room and separate toilet.
With both properties combined you can comfortably accommodate 18 people. There is an additional converted party barn with outdoor kitchen made up of a large pizza oven and BBQ and smoker.
To finish the ensemble no break away is complete without your own hot tub. Filled with pure water from our own spring and heated by wood from the farm it is one of the most environmentally friendly ways to spoil yourselves! Lying back, the silence enveloping you like velvet with only the odd owl to disturb the peace you can enjoy the stars with no light pollution. With a cold drink in hand, this is the ultimate luxury we all crave when on holiday.
With the owners on site situated in a self contained converted stable block, ‘The Hop House’, taking care of the livestock, biomass boiler and borehole you will have the best of both worlds. A beautiful comfortable country stay without any of the hard work that comes with it! (Out of Wedding Season this property is available to rent too!)
